  • Tyson Miller

Founder / Senior FellowTyson has been working in the environmental field for over 20 years. He graduated from UCLA’s environmental studies program with honors in 1995 and since that time has developed a range of innovative national programs designed to catalyze measurable shifts and positive change. He is a firm believer in the power of collaboration and solutions-oriented endeavors.

Tyson conceived of and edited Dream of a Nation (published in late 2011); an illustrated anthology with essays and contributions from pioneering organizations and thought leaders within the civil society movement. The work explores solutions and success models to some of the nation’s most pressing social and environmental issues. The content from the book is available free online to the public and educators. Tyson also co-produced and directed Generation Earth. This documentary and curriculum, released in 1995, highlights successful environmental education programs in secondary schools around the U.S. Despite being self-financed and a first media endeavor, it received numerous awards, has been seen by over 2 million students and informed the development of Los Angeles County’s environmental program; laternamed Generation Earth. This teaching tool has inspired the development of many new in-school environmental education programs and  is still in use today.
